Hi, I am Mikey :)
I’m a creative UX/UI designer from the Isle of Man, with an MA in User Experience Design and a BA in Visual Communication. I currently work as a UX/UI Designer at Uniphy, one of the leading creators of 3D smart-surface technology, where I design intuitive, tactile, non-traditional interfaces.
I’m particularly interested in how people understand complex systems and how design can simplify those interactions without removing user control. This mindset guides how I approach:
user research and testing
interaction design and information hierarchy
designing for edge cases and accessibility
emerging interaction models beyond screens
My background in Visual Communication supports this by allowing me to translate abstract findings into tangible design outcomes wireframes, prototypes, and interaction patterns that are easy to understand, test, and iterate.
Outside of design, I’m inspired by art history especially artists and movements that challenge convention. Keith Haring’s activism within the LGBTQIA+ community and the irreverent, experimental spirit of Dadaism continue to shape my approach to creativity and visual storytelling. While living on the Isle of Man, I worked with the Sayle Gallery on community creativity initiatives focused on making art more accessible and engaging for local audiences.
I’m also an active member of the inclusive rugby community, currently playing for Leeds Hunters RFC. I’ve played rugby since I was 13 and, with Hunters, have been a national finalist and double Northern Champion. Rugby has taught me resilience, collaboration, and the importance of inclusive environments values that strongly inform how I approach UX, from teamwork and facilitation to designing experiences where people feel confident and supported.
Always open to connecting, whether it’s about design, inclusion, art, or rugby.
